Father Joe Vogel grew up in Northeastern South Dakota on a farm near the towns of Doland and Turton.  He comes from a large family with an abundance of cousins.  He graduated from college at SDSU.  In 1973 he entered the Air Force as a security police officer.  He served in the Air Force for 8 1/2 years and had various assignments in the U.S. and overseas.  Father Joe responded to God's call to the priesthood and in 1982 he entered the seminary.  He was ordained in 1987.  He has enjoyed a number of assignments throughout the diocese and is very happy to be serving St Teresa of Calcutta, St Peter,  and St Joseph parishes in the diocese.
